You were a squirrel with an injured back leg. I passed you on the street while you were hopping around, trying to get out of traffic. I drove up a couple of blocks, doubled back and intended to catch you and take you to Wildlife Rescue so they could mend your hurt leg. But I was too late as another car had already hit an killed you. I'm so sorry I didn't get to you sooner. Know that someone loved you and tried to help you. Rest in Peace Rocket J. Squirrel.

Rosie Barker was the best dog ever. She had her own column in the local newspaper, and she was the sweetest and gentlest dog. She was just eleven months old when we had to put her down due to fatal kidney disease (born with it, we had no way to know). She lived her life most fully and enjoyed many things most humans don't get to as my sidekick at the newspaper. We'll never forget her, but she lives forever in our hearts.
